James River

Quiet with an edge, James River brings his own distinct style to the microphone. A relative newcomer to comedy, James cuts dark humor with a bit of silliness to garner laughs from the crowd. James’ quickness and quirks have brought him on stages all over the Midwest and he’s just getting started

Vivian Burgett

Vivian Burgett started doing comedy to cope with having the most boring job ever: research administration.  She’s performed her blend of dark and nerdy comedy all over Southeast Michigan including at her monthly open mic “Fem Feedback” which she runs in Ann Arbor.

Brittany Devon

Brittany Devon (they/she) is a comedian, actor, and horse girl. Brittany recently moved back to Michigan from Chicago, and travels all around for shows. Brittany was featured in the Future of Comedy Festival at Lincoln Lodge in Chicago and the Dr Grins Artprize showcase. They are a graduate of The Second City Conservatory. She owns the production company She Them Productions and has screened her award winning movies internationally. Check out her show Platonic Girlfriend.

Gerrit Elzinga

Growing up in various small towns outside of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Gerrit Elzinga dove headfirst into stand-up comedy at the ripe old age of 14. From talent shows and classrooms to comedy clubs and theaters, he was a hardened road comic by 25. Gerrit has continued to strive for greatness and evolution in his act, recounting personal stories, societal hypocrisies and logical fallacies. These traits are evident from his myriad of credits including Laughs on FOX, Gilda's LaughFest, the Laughing Devil Comedy Festival in NYC, and his sophomore album, "Bullet-Biter: The Emcee Sessions," previously being played on SiriusXM.

Created by multi-disciplinary artist Laura Hobson, Phabies is a universe within her imagination. Their lyric-focused music is a blend of 60's-era folk and genre-blending pop, alternative, and indie.

“Phabies has carved out a unique, artistic and entertaining niche in West Michigan, releasing EPs and singles over the past few years, with their full-length debut album, ‘Fire Seed’” released in 2022 (John Sinkevics, Local Spins). Laura’s voice, "both lyrical and literal, is the shining star of Phabies’ sky of sounds, celestial yet terrestrial, rising from the earth and the core of her being so beautifully" (Eric Mitts, Revue Mag).

Their album "Fire Seed" was awarded Critics Choice Album of the Year at the 2023 WYCE Jammies. Their music video for "Pink Christmas Tree" won Video of the Year, Best Alternative Video, & Best Cinematography at the 2024 Michigan Music Video Awards.

Save the date! You’ve been invited to Golden Age for a night of mystery, mayhem, and murder! In this immersive “married to the mob” event, you’ll never know who to trust. With two families merging together, someone is bound to lose power, which means someone else will lose their life! Get on the trolley and solve this case with your fellow detectives. 

Dress like the cat’s meow for this mafia wedding! Flapper dresses, zoot suits, feather boas and headbands, pinstriped suits, and fedoras are all appropriate. Traditional wedding attire is nifty too!

~Order of Activities~

5:00PM-5:25PM: Arrive with your full party and check in with the host to be seated together. Golden Age will offer a full bar including beer, wine, and themed specialty cocktails!

5:30PM: Dinner Service Begins! Indulge in our buffet offered for the evening. 

6:00PM-8:00PM: A murder takes place and a mystery ensues! Work with your team to follow the clues and solve the crime!

***PLEASE READ*** WE ARE HOSTING TWO BIRDS & BREWS: one at our Creston Taproom in Grand Rapids, and one in our Douglas Taproom in Douglas. Please be sure you are buying tickets for the correct location. 

Join us in Golden Age above Creston Taproom in Grand Rapids and get up close and personal with the raptors of the Outdoor Discovery Center in the Golden Age on Thursday, November 14 at 6:00 pm.

You’ll see and learn about 5-6 different Birds of Prey and “pair” each bird’s personality with the characteristics of Saugatuck Brewing Co.'s and Creston beers (5oz for each pairing). You will also receive a welcome pint on your way in, just to get you comfortable while you wait for the show to start.

Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Outdoor Discovery Center and will go toward further education on and treatment of our local water sources. Always remember, without clean water, we can’t make great beer.

Samuel J. Comroe, a Los Angeles native, is a stand-up comedian who performs at over 100 clubs and colleges annually. He made his TV debut on TBS’ Conan and has appeared on BET’s "Real Husbands of Hollywood" with Kevin Hart. In addition to his TV appearances Sam was recently featured on All Def Digital’s Comedy Originals. He is also the winner of Ricky Gervais’ Comedy Competition, The San Francisco Comedy Competition, and has over 45,000 subscribers on his Youtube Channel. His comedy is made up of the trials and tribulations of living with Tourette Syndrome since being diagnosed at age six and observational material based on his life experiences. Most recently, he finished in 4th place on Season 13 of "America's Got Talent" on NBC.
